This week, we were honored to meet with Alice Arutkin, beautiful French model, twice Windsurfing World Champion and addicted to motosurf.
CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO OUR FAN?
My name is Alice Arutkin, I’m French professional windsurfer, I’m 23 years old. I’m on the World Pro Tour for 7 years and i’m actually 3rd in the overall ranking of the year in the wave’s discipline. I’ve been 2 times youth and senior world champion in Slalom and Youth wave world champion. Rookie of the year 2008 in all disciplines on the pro tour.
WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER MOTOSURFING?
I discovered motosurfing last summer. I’ve been invited to Prague to try the board and share my experience in this new water toy. I had the chance to try it with few riders as Kai Lenny and Flavien Neyertz!! Loved it straight away!
HOW IS MOTOSURFING DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER SPORTS?
I’ve been surprised by motosurfing, I felt some similar feeling from differents sports. Motosurfing could be a combination of surfing when you ride a small board, you control and have the speed as a jetski or even a motocross. The big advantage is that you stay very quiet on the water, you don’t really bother everyone next to you and you feel free on the water to go where you want, the board is so maniable and smooth in the water that you can pass anywhere with it !
THERE ARE WAY MORE MEN THAN WOMEN PRACTICING THE SPORT… IT IS A MAN SPORT OR DO YOU THINK IT IS CHANGING?
The motosurfing is still a “new sport”, actually i can find many people who never heard about it and it seems like there is more boys than girls practicing the sport, but it’s always been the same phenomen at the beginning of a new water sport. I tried it and i can tell that it’s gonna be something that everyone will be able to do : men, women, youth and old people. It’s amazing to be able to share a little promenade with some friends or even in family, each person on its on board. And of course, starting some jumps and riding waves for the best ones !
ANY TIPS FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO START MOTOSURFING?
For someone who knows how to surf, snowboard, wakeboard, it will be much more easy to succeed in motosurfing. If you never try any of this kind of sport, don’t worry it’s not that hard ! You should take lesson with a pro who will explain all the tips and details to start without any fault in your way to use the motosurf. You haver to wear a life jacket and a crash helmet for the safety. The hardest part in jetsurf is to stand up on the board ; for that it’s necessary to try to have a good and constant speed ; and above all, be smooth, don’t give too many jolts because that’s what will make you fall ! One more thing, the faster you go the better will be your balance on the board. Don’t be too tight, bend the legs, be relax on the board for a nice smooth ride.
SOMETHING ELSE TO ADD?
Stop thinking, take a board and try, you will love it !!!
